Growing up in a family owned glass business, Alan has more than 20 years experience in all aspects of working in and managing a business that sold and installed Windows, Doors, Storefronts, Shower Doors, etc. With a business in Lake Tahoe, large custom jobs were the norm. This experience gave Alan the background to begin writing software for the industry and led to the formation of PowerBids "Plus" in 1994. Customers included Milgard Windows, International Windows, Eagle Windows and many other window manufactures. PowerBids also provided spreadsheet applications for many door and glass companies throughout the west coast.
In 2000 PowerBids was sold to Friedman Corporation where Alan worked for approximately 5 years before retiring due to an illness. PowerBids was used by over 3000 customers worldwide.
Alan is now writing new applications using Microsoft Excel 2013. Today's version of Microsoft Excel allows for the creation of applications with features unheard of 10 - 15 years ago.
